YOUphoria; A Pride Showcase June 21 – July 9, 2023
Opening Reception: Thursday, June 22, 5 – 9 pm
YOUphoria is an exhibition that features the artwork of 38 Queer artists who explore the question: “What is your Queer Joy?”. The artwork presented ranges in subject matters; from exploring Kink; to the sanctuary of being home; to gender expression and exploration and the joys of found family and community. Each artwork is as unique as the artist who created them, and represents Queer Community’s long-standing relationship with craft and breaks the moulds of what a traditional gallery show might look like. The Jury members are all incredibly proud of the artwork that was chosen and believe that the show is a wonderful peek into the internal worlds of each artist. When so often we in the Queer community have been called ugly or unloveable, dirty or distinctly wrong, YOUphoria shifts that narrative to be one of Beauty, Celebration, and Love.
